12 Things To Expect In Deadpool 2

via comicvine.gamespot.com

Deadpool 2: CONFIRMED! Yea we all knew it would be… it’s been the talk of the movie world since it’s release and has changed the way studios will look at comic book movies from here on out, for better or for worse. The movie grossed over half a billion dollars, even though it was banned in China, all with a budget less than $60 million. To put that in perspective, Iron Man was made on a $140 million budget, and has made significantly less. Deadpool 2 was all but a sure thing until it was confirmed last week.

Now that we know it’s happening, and that basically the entire team is down to return, the question is what will make it? Are we going to see Vanessa? Yea. The Negasonic Teenage Warhead? Probably. Angel Dust? Doubt it… but who knows? Here are 12 things that you should expect to happen in Deadpool 2.

12. Jabs At Fantastic Four

So the Fantastic Four has pretty much become the laughing stock of all superhero movies. The characters are really good, and they deserve a better movie than the 2015 and 2005 versions. That being said the movies were terrible and Deadpool took a shot at pretty much every failed superhero movie that they were allowed, including having an action figure of the terrible rendition of Deadpool from the miserable X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The writers are back and it seems like Fox has a sense of humor about their failed properties, so expect some jokes about the famous foursome.

Here’s something we really want to see. Deadpool better not be too scared to take on The Hulk, in joke form at least. The rivalry between Fox and Marvel has been pretty tense as the two companies cannot seem to come together on anything. The X-Men can’t talk about magic, even though two of their most powerful characters use it, and Marvel can’t talk about mutants, even though a main character is one. The public has been vehement that they are on Marvel’s side of this, but for those who read the comics, Marvel has been just pissing on the X-Men since this split happened. It’s time for Fox to shoot back, in the most passive aggressive way possible. Deadpool can make some quips about how there have been 3 Hulks and two are just awful, or take a shot at The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Come on Fox, grow some balls and fight this battle!

10. More X-Men

They made some jokes in the film about not being able to afford more X-Men than Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead. That was true at the time, but now they will be rolling in the money after making a killing at the box office. We know there will be a couple additions, but how many? Will we see the Wolverine cameo? Maybe. Will we see a cameo from Patrick Stewart, or James McAvoy, or both? Probably not… With X-Men: Apocalypse hitting theaters next month, many more mutants will be introduced, or reintroduced. We could get a Cyclops or Jean Grey cameo since their son will be in the movie. Or just maybe a Psylocke cameo? Adding a telekinetic character would be very important to help with our next hope.

9. Schizophrenia

One thing that Deadpool didn’t even touch on was Wade Wilson’s mental battle with schizophrenia. Don’t get us wrong, it’s hard to tastefully work in severe mental disorders into comedies, or any movie for that matter. They often are greatly misrepresented and can be very offensive to those who indeed struggle with them. However, it is an important character trait that will probably not be ignored through every movie. If they include a telepath, the audience may be treated to seeing the inner workings of Wade’s messed up psyche. It could be an entire plot point, it could just be a nod to the books, but we expect it to play some role in the future sequel.

8. Domino

So we know Cable will be in Deadpool 2. This is not a rumor, it’s a fact. The question really remains, will we see Domino? For those unaware, Domino is Cable’s primary love interest, who happens to be a bad-ass mercenary with the mutant ability to increase her luck, thus helping her become one of the best marksmen in the Marvel Universe. She’d be a nice addition to Sister Margaret’s revolving door of trained killers. We’d love to see the exact same scene as Vanessa’s introduction where a giant man tries to hit on her by insulting her, but instead of just beating up the guy, Domino just straight murders him. Rumor has it that Keira Knightley might be in talks to play the role, but we won’t know for some time.

7. Copycat

Sure Copycat was in the first movie, but even some of the most studious comic book fans might have not made the connection. That’s because she doesn’t use her powers at any point. The entire plot of Deadpool 2 might revolve around Weapon X getting their hands on Vanessa and experimenting on her until she unleashes her mutant abilities. Oh and Vanessa is Copycat if you didn’t know. Most people assume that she will use her powers of metamorphosis at some point in the movie, but they will have to find a way to make her seem different than from another extremely well known female mutant that also has a similar power, Mystique. They might be able to do this just by putting Mystique in the movie. Who knows? We just hope Vanessa won’t be another damsel in distress.

6. Sins Of The Past

This story arc might be a little rough to replicate as a movie because we haven’t seen or heard much from Banshee, and haven’t even heard of Tom Cassidy. However this is one of the best story arcs Deadpool has to offer as it’s one of the first times we get to see Wade as a hero rather than an anti-hero. Now we already know he is a hero in the movie, but it wouldn’t be bad to remind viewers of who he once was, a cutthroat mercenary who has killed a lot of people, both bad and good. Getting a little bit off him from those days would be a great contrast to the hero he has become.

5. Weasel, More Weasel

T.J. Miller was great. He was pretty much perfect as Wade’s nerdy and witty best friend Weasel. We will see more of Weasel in the sequel, maybe in a different role. Instead of just being the wise cracking bartender that Wade can discuss super suits with, maybe he can be the wise cracking computer hacker we know and love from the comics. Weasel’s hacking skills are normally well regarded in the Marvel universe and even the Avengers have reached out to him for help at some times. Much like Wade he’s normally more in it for the money than actually doing good, but he makes exceptions for his buddy Deadpool.

4. Bad Guy Cable

Even though we know Cable will be in Deadpool 2 we don’t know what role he’ll play. The time traveling mutant is often the unwilling partner of Deadpool, but it wasn’t always a partnership. Initially the two were heated rivals who attempted to kill each other after Deadpool was hired to assassinate him. Eventually they team up, but the team is shaky at best. We’d love to see Cable be the bad guy through most of the movie. As for who will be playing the man, we don’t know. A lot of rumors have been floated (Stephen Lang, Arnold, Ron Perlman) but nothing is confirmed as of yet.

3. Ryan Reynold’s Butt, Again

Take it or leave it, you’ll see some shots of Ryan Reynold’s ass, again. We think that everyone, on some level, is fine with this as it’s always funny to see a butt. The question we want to know is if his butt is going to be as messed up as his face. Sometimes in the comics only his face is scarred, but the movie makes it seem like his entire body is in the same state. Could they make it so that his bum is in pristine condition but the rest of him got scarred up. We’ll see! Just expect it to butt into the movie.

2. No Flashbacks To Pretty Wade

via youtube.com

via youtube.com

Sorry everyone, but we aren’t going to get a lot (if any) flashbacks to Wade Wilson when he wasn’t maliciously disfigured. The movie made a point to stay pretty true to the character, and rarely in the books do we get flashbacks to Deadpool’s initial form. We don’t think that they will include any in the next movie as we already good quite a bit of backstory, and there isn’t much more to be told. If they do, likely it will only be a single scene, but what would that even be? We get that Reynolds is pretty, but we don’t care. A shot of his bare butt is more than enough eye candy for those who like that sort of thing.

1. Wolverine Cameo

via deadline.com

via deadline.com

It was a bit disappointing that we didn’t get a cameo from the Wolverine himself in the first Deadpool, but considering how expensive this would be it’s not shocking. For the sequel the budget will most likely be expanded by an unimaginable number, which means more cool and expensive stuff. If Hugh Jackman was in the movie for more than a cameo, he would take away from the overall product as the two characters are so thematically different in their shared universe that it would be a bit uncomfortable. The best alternative would be a 2 minute scene that the characters share where Deadpool annoys Wolverine, and Wolverine cuts off his hand or something. Then the two have a beer and go their separate ways. We have 0 ideas how a cameo will fit with the plot, but we’ll keep our fingers crossed.
