Sure, there are some celebrities that are more interesting to the general public than others. It’s also true that some celebs go through a period in which it seems everyone wants to know every detail of their lives. Then, in a matter of months or even weeks, it’s like these famous people barely even existed.
These days, there are a few celebrities who seem to be on the cover of every entertainment magazine and at the forefront of every online entertainment, fashion and beauty report. This can get annoying, even if you enjoy the work of the celebrity whose image or personal/professional details is being plastered all over the media.
Of course, there are also some celebrities that are all over the Internet and television because their publicity teams want the public to like them. It’s almost like they’re trying to saturate all forms media in order to subconsciously convince people that the celebrity is likable. This works in some instances. However, when you constantly see a celebrity, no matter what website you log onto or which television program you watch, it can get a little annoying. Here are 12 celebrities that are way too exposed. Chances are you’ll easily recognize every one of them.
12. Honey Boo Boo
Alana Thompson is the precocious pre-teen who made her debut on the TLC reality show Toddlers and Tiaras. The program showcases young pageant participants who are focused on making it to the top of the pageant world. Thompson is best known by her nickname, Honey Boo Boo, and after Toddlers and Tiaras, she and her family got a spin-off TLC show called Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. She and her family have been in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons lately, including the fact that Thompson’s mother brought her around a sex offender who is also an ex-boyfriend. These reckless decisions are a sign that it’s time for Alana, along with her mom and sisters, to take a little time off from being famous to make some improvements to their family unit.
11. Lindsay Lohan
The past five years or so have been pretty rough for Lindsay Lohan. The actress has been in the spotlight since she was a little kid, but her promising acting career got way off course when it was revealed that she was having some substance abuse issues. She’s also appeared in court more than movies these days, and even had some of her valuable possessions stolen from her home by the Bling Ring. The constant media coverage of all Lohan’s indiscretions and issues is obviously not good for her career, even though her publicists probably believe that “any publicity is good publicity.” It looks like her team is finally starting to get the hint, so hopefully she’ll take some time to get herself together before making another public debut.
10. Kevin Hart
Sure, the height-challenged comedian and actor is hilarious. He seems to have a great disposition and is pretty entertaining during interviews. Kevin Hart even comes across as grateful and appreciative of his professional opportunities, even though he has jokingly stated that he deserves to be in every movie that has been released in recent years. However, the constant media coverage could end up doing more harm than good in Hart’s career. After all, he’s already lost some female fans for speaking unfavorably about his ex wife (who is also a comedian) in some of his acts. The two have since gotten on good terms, but this is an example of the fact that sometimes being too famous can cause lapses in good judgment.
Nicole Polizzi, better known as “Snooki,” is probably the most memorable member of MTV’s Jersey Shore cast. The show was somewhat polarizing, since some teenagers and young adults loved the reality show, while some Italian Americans were pretty offended by the behavior of the cast members. Either way, Snooki definitely stood out, whether she was getting really drunk, cursing one of her roommates out, or getting into bar fights and expecting the roommates she just yelled at to come to her rescue. Sure, she’s short and adorable, but we could stand to see less of her. She’s married with two children now, so it looks like her new station in life is keeping her from craving media attention so much—for now, anyway.
8. Justin Bieber
Justin Bieber has been making teenagers (and let’s face it, young adults) swoon for a few years. Once he was discovered by posting videos on YouTube, it seemed that the public just couldn’t get enough of him. Bieber had an adorable, boy-next-door image, but obviously, that wasn’t enough for him. He started dating actress and singer Selena Gomez, and tried to appear aggressive and overly macho when Gomez started receiving death threats from jealous female fans. In the midst of one of his adult tantrums, Bieber even instructed a member of the media not to ask any more questions about Selena during an interview. He was accused of fathering a child with another woman and was allegedly hanging out with some people who could get him into trouble. Yet, the public still wants more of him. It’s probably better for Bieber to start focusing on his music again, and it looks like his PR team is encouraging him to restore his good guy image as well.
7. Miley Cyrus
Some people still long for the days when Miley Cyrus was a sweet little singer, actress and title character on the Disney sitcom Hannah Montana. At least her media exposure was a little more bearable, and her publicity team made sure she was appealing to kids and teenagers. After the show ended, Cyrus apparently decided that she wanted to be seen differently. She cut her hair, got lots of tattoos, and couldn’t seem to take a picture without sticking her tongue out. Cyrus also decided that it was a good idea to smoke weed on stage at one of her concerts, and added dancing provocatively on Robin Thicke (who was married at the time) during the VMAs to her list of “not-so-great decisions”.
6. Kris Jenner
People can call Kris Jenner a lot of things, but unsuccessful (in business) definitely isn’t one of them. Jenner manages her daughters, and has worked behind the scenes to make her family millions of dollars. Jenner has gotten a lot of criticism during her time in the spotlight, since it appears that she’s pretty comfortable with her daughters flaunting their sexuality for money. She’s also quite a character, and serves to make Keeping Up With The Kardashians pretty interesting. Since Kris and Bruce Jenner separated, she’s gotten a lot of attention, most for her emotional response when Bruce (now Caitlyn) apologized for not being honest with her about his transgender status. Kris has started dating again and even posts pictures on social media now and again to let the public know that she’s still “got it,” even though she’s a grandmother. Clearly, Jenner has no problem with fame, which is why she’s always in the media, and we could use a break.
5. Khloe Kardashian
Of all the Kardashian sisters, Khloe is probably the least over-exposed. This had a lot to do with the fact that she was in a more “traditional” marriage with basketball star Lamar Odom and didn’t seem as hungry for attention as her sisters. Some have even said that Khloe is the most down-to-earth in the Kardashian clan. That may be true, but these days, Khloe is definitely getting her share of excessive media attention. She’s been working out a lot, and every time she steps on the red carpet, there are speculations that she’s had work done. She’s also been in the news for officially ending her marriage to Lamar Odom after years of separation and hopes that the two could reconcile. It seems that Khloe doesn’t really want the public to know everything about her life like some of her family members, and she seems to realize that over-exposure is just part of the deal when it comes to being a Kardashian, which makes her less obnoxious than some of her loved ones.
4. Chris Brown
In the past few years, Chris Brown has been in the news for several reasons. It all started with that horrible incident with Rihanna. Then he started dating Kerrueche Tran, and starting dating Rihanna again while still dating Tran. He also lost his temper a few times, and there was an incident in which he threw a chair through the ABC Studios when he was there for a Good Morning America interview. Aside from the media attention Brown didn’t necessarily ask for, he also took to social media few times to air his dirty laundry, curse fans out, and admit that he was in love with two women. Brown and Tran’s relationship recently ended because the singer had a child with another woman. We can all agree that some time out of the media is probably best for Brown—for our sanity and his own good.
Beyonce has been over-exposed in the media since her days with Destiny’s Child. As she branched out into a solo career, it was pretty clear that the public couldn’t take their eyes off her. Granted, she’s extremely talented and beautiful, and has won several awards for her work, but she seems to get extreme attention for every little thing she does. For instance, paparazzi are always waiting to see what she’s wearing or what restaurant she’s going to. That’s probably why she was so tight-lipped about her relationship with Jay-Z when the two were dating. Even after their 2008 wedding, interviewers couldn’t get her to say too much about her personal life. Beyonce and Jay-Z have since welcomed daughter Blue Ivy into the world, and now, the media is just obsessed with following the toddler around as they are with all things Beyonce.
2. Kylie Jenner
People don’t seem to remember that Kylie Jenner is still a teenager. Sure, she turned 18 not too long ago, so technically she’s an adult, but the amount of media exposure she’s been getting is no doubt overwhelming at times. Not to mention, some people are sick of seeing her. She got way too much attention when she lied about not getting lip injections during an interview. She later fessed up and revealed that her lips were something she’s always been insecure about (though we’re not quite sure why). Jenner stayed in the public eye when it was alleged that she and rapper Tyga (who is almost a decade older than her), were dating. Tyga was also previously engaged to one of Kim Kardashian’s friends, which makes the situation even more awkward. Even people who like the Kardashian/Jenner family would probably agree that it’s time for Kylie to take a little break from the public eye right now.
1. Kim Kardashian
You guessed it. Kylie Jenner’s big sister Kim Kardashian tops the list of celebrities who get way too much time in the spotlight. Sure, she’s beautiful. She’s also become a pretty successful businesswoman (along with her sisters), and her family continues to entertain the masses with their reality shows. It’s even been said that Kardashian contacts the paparazzi each time she’s going to attend a major event, so that her pictures can end up in the most popular publications. There was also that time she made a sex tape with Ray J, married basketball player Kris Humphries for a couple of months, went on to marry rapper Kanye West (the two have a daughter and a son on the way), and created a coffee table book filled with nothing but selfies of herself. So, it’s pretty clear that Kim wants the attention just as much as the media wants to give it to her.
