It’s really crazy to think that all of these celebrities have been working in Hollywood since they were young children. And while some have had their ups and downs throughout the years, all of these names are relatively still able to get booked for a gig here and there. A handful of these childhood stars can still enjoy life with over $100 million in their bank account while others would be lucky to see another day where their bank statement shows anything over $100,000. Overall, these celebrities are all very well known for their profession in Hollywood, but were you aware that these stars were originally child stars? Read on to see which actors you hadn’t realized got their start as kids on TV.
12. Hilary Duff
As crazy as it may sound, many people tend to forget that Hilary Duff’s big break came around when she was just a little girl. Well, teenage to be exact, but still very young. Hilary starred in the ever-so-popular Disney Channel series Lizzie McGuire, and literally everybody on the planet was obsessed with that show. A few years later, she decided to move on from Disney, starred in several movies and launched a successful music career, so it’s understandable as to why we might forget Hilary’s true rise to fame.
11. Lindsay Lohan
Lindsay Lohan is always caught up in so much trouble that one doesn’t even remember how she got her start in the film industry. Fear not, because while Lindsay tends to focus her attention on everything but the acting she’s so talented at, her first feature film role came when she was cast in The Parent Trap. The movie did considerably well at the box office, eventually leading Lindsay to get some amazing offers in the years to come, such as Mean Girls and Herbie: Fully Loaded. Lindsay Lohan ruled the early 2000s, and that’s a fact!
10. Amanda Bynes
Not much different to Lindsay, Amanda Bynes’ talent seems to have been overshadowed by her infamous 2013 meltdown. It was so serious that many even thought Amanda’s story would lead to a tragic ending. Having already announced her retirement from acting in 2011, it isn’t hard to see why nobody really remembers Amanda Bynes as the sweet, innocent and super adorable child star from Nickelodeon. Amanda starred in multiple shows on the network before eventually landing her own show, ironically titled The Amanda Show, which became a phenomenon in itself. The program was loved by everyone, including us.
9. Ryan Gosling
While Ryan Gosling might have had a successful run in the film business, many would just like to think that this handsome fella simply got lucky to have made it as far as he has. But in actuality, Ryan is just very dedicated to his craft, having worked his butt off ever since he became part of The Mickey Mouse Club alongside Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera. By the time Ryan was 15 years old, he already had a net worth of $500,000. How many 15-year-olds can say that?
8. Taylor Momsen
Nobody will ever be able to forget The Grinch, right? I mean, that film was just epic, classic, amazing and most of all, hilarious. But to everyone’s surprise, Taylor Momsen’s image from childhood sweetheart quickly changed when she reached her late teens, suddenly changing up her entire style. Taylor more or less went from good girl to bad in a matter of years, and the only reason why people forget she had her start as a childhood actress is all down to the change she’s made regarding her looks.
7. Dakota Fanning
If you hit up the cinemas a couple of times a year during 2005 to 2008, you would’ve probably caught a young Dakota Fanning in at least two action movies. I mean, this little girl was everywhere, and I’m sure her parents were chuffed to see their daughter make a whopping $300,000 per movie at the age of just seven. In her teens and early 20s, Dakota’s salary increased to a reported $1.5 million, famously having starred in the Twilight franchise.
6. AnnaSophia Robb
AnnaSophia Robb literally stole our hearts with her performance in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Many people don’t actually remember that the little girl who was constantly chewing gum in her cute purple outfits was actually AnnaSophia. From there, she went on to star in Race to Witch Mountain along with the popular CW series, The Carrie Diaries — oh, and in 2016 alone, this former childhood actress already has three movies lined up for release.
5. Raven Symone
No, her start didn’t come from That’s So Raven, though many would like to think so. Raven Symone actually made a name for herself when she was hired as a child star in The Cosby Show. And while she didn’t really say much in the episodes she made her appearances in, Raven’s hustle never really ended, for that stint led to television commercials, other TV cameos, her own Disney Channel show, and a short-lived music career. And now, Raven Symone can be seen giving her advice in pop culture-led segments on The View.
4. The Olsen Twins
My, oh my, have these girls changed, or what? Literally having gone from good to bad in a matter of several teenage years, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are often just considered to be fashion designers. This is merely for the fact that neither of the two really tends to act in any films these days, but can you blame them? They are close to reaching billionaire status. But I should mention that Ashley and Mary-Kate have been working since they were one — yes, ONE! That’s when casting agents hired the twins to partake in the popular TV show Full House. They’ve come a long way… not just financially but also in the looks department.
3. Kristen Stewart
Before the Twilight franchise literally turned Kristen Stewart into a worldwide sensation, she was just another child star trying to make it big in Hollywood. One of her first big roles came when she was cast as Sarah Altman in the movie Panic Room. Mind you, Kristen was only 11-years-old when she began shooting the film, which eventually opened the doors for the 25-year-old to star in follow-up films such as Catch That Kid, Jumper, and Adventureland.
2. Jodie Foster
Following her breakout role in the movie The Accused in 1988, endless movie roles followed for the talented Jodie Foster, who would go on to become one of the highest-paid actresses in Hollywood. To date, she has starred in over thirty movies and her net worth stands at an impressive $100 million. I think we could all agree that Jodie Foster is worth every penny.
1. Abigail Breslin
Abigail Breslin isn’t too different from Dakota Fanning, for both of these girls pretty much started getting the big acting roles at the same age. Breslin has worked with a bunch of A-list actors throughout her time in the film industry, having starred in movies such as Little Miss Sunshine, Zombieland and FOX’s popular TV series Scream Queens. She might only be 20-years-old, but thanks to her early start in Hollywood, Abigail is now already worth $12 million.
