What is better than watching your favorite reality TV show? Watching a fresh new spin-off! Summer is nearly here and though many of the hottest reality TV shows will be on hiatus, you will still have an opportunity to tune in and watch some of your favorite cast members.
‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’ has been a consistent hit for Bravo, even before the publicity surrounding the recent scuffle between cast mates Porsha Williams and Kenya Moore. Part one of the season 6 reunion earned 4. 1 million viewers. With such solid ratings, it is obvious why Bravo execs have lined up several spin-offs to keep fans tuning in.
E! Entertainment is notorious for launching spin-offs from its successful reality TV series ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’. To date, there have been three KUWTK spin-offs. In 2014, E! Entertainment will air two additional KUWTK spin-offs, including ‘Dash Dolls’ and the Kim Kardashian and Kanye West wedding special.
Some spin-offs grow so popular, they surpass the original show in ratings. By the end of the second season, ‘Vanderpump Rules’ was reportedly beating the ratings of its “mother show”, ‘The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’. RHOBH appeals to an older demographic and the younger ‘Vanderpump Rules’ fans may not have ever watched its predecessor.
