10 Male Celebs Who Snagged Women Way Hotter Than They Are

via washingtonpost.com

Hollywood is filled with gorgeous celebrities – men with washboard abs and chiselled cheekbones, women with flowing hair and perfect hourglass figures. Often celebrity couples are almost unbelievably beautiful together, nearly stunning photographers on the red carpet. And then, there are a few men who seem to have scored way outside of their hotness level. You know the ones we’re talking about – you see them with their girlfriend or spouse and find yourself asking “they’re with her?” Hey – anything goes in Hollywood!

To be fair, attraction is a subjective thing – an individual who one person finds absolutely gorgeous can be thought totally average by another. And who you end up dating, or even marrying, has to do with more than just physical attraction – you have to also be attracted to your partner’s personality, his or her sense of humour, values, and more. However, when the couples on this list show up on the red carpet together, the women are obviously more classically gorgeous than their partners are classically handsome. Take note, average men, and take some inspiration – if you’re talented and funny, you too could score a drop-dead gorgeous model or actress for a wife. Maybe. Hey, it doesn’t hurt to dream.

10. Mickey Rourke and Anastassija Makarenko

Mickey Rourke’s looks have been in the public eye for the past several years, and not for a good reason – while handsome in his earlier years, a series of botched plastic surgeries had definitely compromised his looks. However, through it all, he’s managed to keep a model by his side – Anastassija Makarenko. Makarenko and Rourke have been dating for about five years, and despite the plastic surgeries and the fact that he’s much older than she is, the Russian beauty has remained with the actor. The heart wants what the heart wants, right? They’ve been dating for quite awhile, but haven’t yet tied the knot – surprising, since you’d think Rourke would want to lock her down. Goodness knows he’ll probably never score anyone hotter.

9. Seth Green and Clare Grant

Seth Green is undeniably funny, but let’s be totally honest – he isn’t exactly going to be strutting down the runway as a male model anytime soon. He doesn’t quite have that chiselled jawline, he’s fairly short, and while he’s managed to learn to work his angles thanks to his years as an actor, he isn’t exactly a 10. Despite that, he managed to snag actress Clare Grant. The two, who got married in 2010, worked together on shows like Robot Chicken and Warren the Ape, so Grant got to see him at his hilarious best. See, guys? A great sense of humor really is important to a woman.

8. Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell

Dax Shepard is, at best, a little bit goofy looking. It works to his advantage in many of the roles he takes, where he plays a bumbling romantic interest or funny friend. His wife Kristen Bell has taken on many comedic roles as well, but let’s just call a spade a spade – she is basically the dictionary definition of a blonde bombshell. Shepard and Bell recently married, and have two children together. Shepard knows his good fortune marrying such a gorgeous and talented woman: as he told Jimmy Kimmel during an appearance on his show, “I think a lot of guys don’t like me because I took Kristen Bell off the market.”

7. David Cross and Amber Tamblyn

David Cross is best known for his role as Tobias Funke on cult classic Arrested Development, while his wife, Amber Tamblyn, has had roles in television shows like Two and a Half Men, House, M.D., and Joan of Arcadia, as well as being one of the four friends in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. These two prove that age is just a number – they met when Tamblyn was just 29, and Cross was 48. She was a young, hot starlet who could likely have had her pick of any guy in Hollywood, but it seems humor trumped a 6 pack for Tamblyn, and the two have been happily married for three years.

6. Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor

Okay, are you seeing a trend here – women love funny guys. Guys, don’t waste your time at the gym – you should be developing your quick wit if you want to snag a gorgeous wife. Ben Stiller is merely another one of the comedic actors who managed to attract wives way out of their league. Stiller and his wife, Christine Taylor, first met when they were working on a pilot together, which ended up never leaving the studio. While he achieved a fair bit behind the scenes in the 1990s, Stiller truly shot to superstardom in the early 2000s with roles in films like Meet the Parents and Zoolander – coincidentally, right around the time he married his wife in 2000. Having a mega-fox to come home to after a long day of filming must be a good motivator.

5. Vincent Kartheiser and Alexis Bledel

Alexis Bledel became a household name after playing the bookish yet beautiful Rory Gilmore on the television series Gilmore Girls, and has since moved to the world of film, snagging several supporting and starring roles. She had a publicized romance with fellow actor Milo Ventimiglia for several years, but who has she been with since that fizzled? Pete Cambell. Or, if you’re not a Mad Men fan, actor Vincent Kartheiser. Kartheiser must have learnt some smooth 1960s moves on the set of Mad Men, and perhaps gotten some tips from Jon Hamm, in order to snag such a bombshell.

4. Jason Sudeikis and Olivia Wilde

Okay, let’s just be clear – we are in no way saying that Jason Sudeikis is unattractive. When it comes to the many comedic actors out there, he’s probably one of the more conventionally handsome of the group. However, on a scale of 10, Olivia Wilde is probably a solid 12 – Sudeikis outkicked his coverage by the sheer fact that Wilde is just insanely gorgeous. The funniest part? At first, Wilde felt insecure. When talking about her future hubby in interviews, she commented that “He was so handsome and he could dance. I thought, ‘He won’t be interested in me; I’m not a contender… I’m not beautiful enough or his type.” Hear that? That’s the sound of jaws dropping. Turns out she was his type (shocker) and the two are now one of Hollywood’s cutest couples, and welcomed a son, Otis, in 2014.

3. Howard Stern and Beth Ostrosky Stern

Howard Stern, long-time host of his radio show The Howard Stern Show, is known for his larger-than-life personality, and often shocking on-air comments. With his crazy curly hair and lined face, he’s not exactly what one might call a dreamboat, but apparently Beth Ostrosky Stern would disagree. The former model married Stern in 2008, and they’ve been going strong ever since. She’s about as polite and quiet as he is obtrusive and loud, so maybe they just balance each other out? At any rate, personality – even if it’s not one that many think is desirable – counts for a lot more than you may have thought. Hey, maybe she just likes them opinionated.

2.William H. Macy and Felicity Huffman

In the world of Hollywood, one year of marriage is equal to about ten years for regular people. William H. Macy and Felicity Huffman, who have been together for nearly two decades (since 1997) are complete anomalies. However, if you’ve ever seen them together on the red carpet, you know that they still appear absolutely in love with one another and frequently work together on the screen and stage. However, it must be said – while William H. Macy is an insanely talented actor, he isn’t exactly a male model. Huffman, despite being over 50 now, is totally gorgeous – after all, she was one of the beautiful housewives on hit show Desperate Housewives.

1. Geoffrey Arend and Christina Hendricks

While he may not be a on the cover of magazines on a regular basis, Geoffrey Arend is an actor who has been in the entertainment industry for over a decade. And, in 2009, he managed to snag actress Christina Hendricks, right at the peak of her popularity a few years after Mad Men began airing. Hendricks’ portrayal of Joan Holloway, an absolute dynamo with curves that looked unbelievable in those 1960s era outfits, catapulted her to superstardom, and she’s been on the A List ever since. When these two show up on the red carpet together, it’s a bit jarring – Arend, a regular looking guy with glasses and curly hair; Hendricks, an absolute knockout with curves most women would pay for and fiery red hair. However, she’s happy – in her own words, he’s not only “the best husband ever,” he’s also “old-fashioned and kind and dreamy.”
