No one could have ever predicted the rise of the burger as a sex object. But, who doesn’t love a juicy woman and an even juicier burger? Women eating meat (we mean that in the most literal and classy sense). Have we not stumbled upon the winning combination here? So, who do we have to thank for the combination of hot girls eating burgers? All american burger joint, Carl’s Jr., has become infamous over the years for its ads featuring scantily clad women digging into burgers in the most sexually suggestive ways, ads of which have gone on to become some of the most iconic.
This raises the question: is it wrong to use scantily-clad women in sexually suggestive pictures to sell burgers? Probably. Most of these ads have encountered a lot of criticism. But can we temporarily overlook it because delicious burgers are involved? Yes. In an effort not to offend any vegetarians, vegans and any other animal-loving herbivores, let’s all assume that these are veggie burgers.
10. Heidi Klum
We have a feeling that supermodel Heidi Klum doesn’t get to enjoy too many burgers due to her demanding career as model, but the look on her face says it all: she wants it (the burger) and we don’t blame her. Carl’s Jr. is known for using super hot women to sell their burgers and Klum is one of them. Although Heidi handles that burger well, not everyone has been happy about Carl’s Jr.’s hypersexualization in their ads – so much so, in fact, that two sisters used the hashtag #MorethanMeat to put a stop to all of it. Carl’s Jr.’s responded with this: “We believe in putting hot models in our commercials, because ugly ones don’t sell burgers.” There you have it.
9. Paris Hilton
You may dislike burger model Paris Hilton, but we can all universally acknowledge that she really sells that burger: she’s not letting anyone get their hands on it, which is why we are all going to go to bed tonight dreaming of Carl’s Jr.’s Spicy BBQ Six Dollar Burger. In the ad, Hilton is seen in a bathing suit while washing a Bentley (women+cars+ burgers =$$$$). It was exactly this 2005 ad, however, that generated more than a little criticism. Despite the criticism, Carl’s Jr.’s combination of hot women and burgers has “put them on the map” and “made them a nationally known brand” according to one to their head honchos. Obviously, it’s working.
8. Katherine Webb
Katherine Webb is a model and former beauty queen. She became most known, however, after she appeared in the BCS National Championship Game in 2013. Nevertheless, in what is not much of a surprise at this point, Carl’s Jr. recruited the Sports Illustrated model to feast on one of the most delicious looking Angus beef burgers out there – so much so, that the ad brings into question who, exactly, is sexier: Katherine Webb or the burger? On one hand, we have a beautiful model licking her fingers seductively, while on the other, we have one giant burger with a hint of cheese and swirls of hot sauce. What is more tempting? The jury is still out on that one.
7. Emily Ratajkowski and Sara Underwood
No, these ladies, Emily and Sara, certainly aren’t that well known (they are music video vixens, actresses, models and/or Playmates, apparently), but does it really matter? The lack of star power is made up for in this Carl’s Jr./Hardees ad with short shorts (really short, like Daisy Duke style), bikini tops, bangin’ bodies and, well, the Memphis BBQ burger with “pulled pork on a cheese burger.” It is hard to argue that any sex appeal is lacking here – after all, there’s even a close-up of pouty lips dripping in BBQ sauce! For a little treat, feel free to check this one out for yourselves (the burger, that is).
6. Kim Kardashian
You are right: this isn’t Kim Kardashian eating a burger: it is Kim K. eating a cranberry apple walnut chicken salad, in a robe, on top of her bed, because that’s what one does. We have a feeling this image is sure to make all of the herbivores out there happy, though, which is why we included it. Plus, you really should chase all those burgers with some greens. In a sultry voice, Kim. K shares some wise words: “And while the best things in life are messy, it’s fun to get clean.” But, the best part of this ad? Kim K. was originally going to be the face of Carl’s Jr. burger, but had trouble actually eating it (we’re sure there’s a Ray J joke in there somewhere).
5. Charlotte McKinney
Dubbed as the “Next Kate Upton,” Carl’s Jr. has recruited yet another hot, young and blonde girl in one of their most scandalous Super Bowl ads yet. Interestingly, McKinney wasn’t even known at the time and was recruited based on her following on social media. To promote their grass-fed “natural” burger sans hormones and other nasty things, aimed at health-conscious millennials (and the “hungry guy”), they had McKinney go “au natural” (okay, she wasn’t actually naked, but it looked like she was). In the ad, McKinney says: “I love going all-natural,” which works on many levels. One question you might have in all of this is whether the models in these ads actually eat the burgers. Charlotte McKinney does. “I went for it! I bit into that burger. I definitely got in there.”
4. Paris Hilton & Hannah Ferguson
Carl’s Jr. loves Paris Hilton, which is why they had her come back and do round two of their “Sexy Women Eating Burgers” ads, an entire nine years after the original aired. To amp up the sex appeal in this ad, though, they featured not one attractive blonde woman but two – makes sense, right? Up and coming Sports Illustrated model, Hannah Ferguson, accompanied Hilton this time. That being said, Carl’s Jr. made one fatal error here: two women and one burger. Why not two burgers for us all to feast our eyes on? Why not one burger in each hand?
3. Chrissy Teigen
Who looks sexy eating a hamburger without actually trying to look sexy? None other than Sports Illustrated model Chrissy Teigen. Let us assure you, it is not an easy thing to do. The picture is obviously a candid one, so you know none of the sexiness was put on. Taken at the Amstel Light Burger Bash, this is the definition of “all-natural” (take note, Carl’s Jr and Charlotte McKinney). Teigen looks like she’s really getting into that burger and having the time of her life doing so, and we just want to be doing the same.
2. Nina Agdal
Carl’s Jr. has the monopoly on Burger Babatrons. Up next we have Danish model Nina Agdal, who was one of three models to make the special 50th anniversary Sports Illustrated edition cover and also starring in Carl’s Jr. 2014 TV ad. This particular ad features a lot of close up shots of her bikini bottom and toned stomach and sexually suggestive poses in what seems to be an ad for sunscreen or bikinis – until, of course, you hit the money shot: the burger and the slow-pan of Adgal biting into it (er – codfish sandwich). It took them 50 sandwiches to get the final product. Nevertheless, Carl’s Jr. is going to have everyone wanting that… (the burger).
1. Kate Upton
If there is anything better than Kate Upton in a bikini, it’s Kate Upton with a juicy looking burger in hand. If you don’t know who Kate Upton is, well, we feel sadness for all that you have been missing out on (hint: many uber sexy Sports Illustrated bikini covers) – see for yourself. Needless to say, Carl’s Jr. made an excellent decision putting Kate Upton in their Super Bowl ad: after all, it raises the important question of whether or not we’d rather have Kate Upton or the cheeseburger more, because she makes that piece of meat look so good. Well done, Carl’s Jr. We definitely want all the buns (burger buns).
