Contrary to popular belief, everyone in the world doesn’t have the overwhelming desire to keep up with the Kardashians. While the famous family has grabbed the attention of millions with their soap opera-like lives, some people, including a few celebrities, are completely over the family’s antics. There are very few people who are on the fence about the Kardashians. You either love them or you hate them. Believe it or not, there are some people in Hollywood who wish Kim, Khloe, Kourtney and the gang would all just go away.
While it can be fascinating to watch the interesting spectacle that is the Kardashians, it’s easy to see how some people could see the dark-haired gorgeous family as a dramatic bore. After all, one of the Kardashian daughters seems to be in a new relationship every month or two. For example, Kim was married twice before Kanye and Khloe took two years to officially divorce her husband Lamar Odom. There’s also the “scandal” surrounding 17-year-old Kylie, the youngest Kardashian-Jenner, who is dating a guy considerably older than she is.
Whether you set your DVR to record Keeping Up With The Kardashians or you prefer not to watch the show (or any news stories related to the family), you have to admit that they’ve done pretty well for themselves. Who knew that a sex tape and a famous attorney for a father could turn into a multi-million dollar empire? Here are 10 celebrities who can’t stand the Kardashian family.
10. Jon Hamm
The handsome star who is known for his work on Mad Men certainly has an opinion about the Kardashians, and Kim in particular. Hamm referred to her as a “f**king idiot.” Wow! We’re going to take that to mean that he doesn’t like Kim very much. Hamm is another Hollywood professional who has been acting for quite some time. The St. Louis native received a scholarship for acting at the University of Missouri and took an interest in the craft when he was just six years old. Jon Hamm also worked as a teacher for a while before making it big in Hollywood, which further proves that he respects the value of hard work.
9. Reese Witherspoon
Reese Witherspoon has been acting for quite some time. Witherspoon got mainstream recognition when she starred in the movie Cruel Intentions with Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillippe, who would later become her husband (Reese and Ryan are now divorced). Witherspoon is also known for her work in the Legally Blonde movies and for her stellar performance as June Carter-Cash in the Johnny Cash biopic Walk The Line. Since Reese is an accomplished actress, it’s no surprise that she’s a little annoyed that “some people” can achieve fame by making a sex tape and appearing on a reality show. At the MTV Awards, Witherspoon stated that sex tapes used to be a source of embarrassment and alluded to the fact that reality shows don’t count as real acting. Sounds like a Kardashian burn to us.
8. Jonah Hill
Jonah Hill lost a considerable amount of weight after starring in films like I Heart Huckabees and Superbad, and some people think he’s not as funny anymore. Then again, other fans of Hill’s who have seen him in movies such as 21 Jump Street (and the sequel), Pineapple Express and Get Him To The Greek would argue that his comedy chops have been intact throughout his weight loss journey. Part of the reason fans think that Hill has become especially serious is because of his cultural observations. For instance, he stated that the fact that Keeping Up With The Kardashians is more famous than Mad Men is “a disgusting part of our culture.” We’re guessing he doesn’t see the reality show as thought-provoking television.
7. Seth McFarlane
The comedian, actor and creator of Family Guy (he does most of the voices on the show) isn’t a fan of the Kardashian family. Like Jonah Hill, he feels that the family of beauties has corrupted the world and ruined American culture. McFarlane once tweeted:
The booming voice of James Earl Jones announcing "This is CNN" followed by coverage of Kim Kardashian's wedding is America in decline.
— Seth MacFarlane (@SethMacFarlane) August 21, 2011
Wow, that’s pretty harsh. Maybe Kardashian’s nuptials don’t belong on a major news stations according to some opinion, but crediting her with the decline of America is major. Although, there’s no denying that Kim and her sisters have a significant influence on pop culture these days.
6. Mariah Carey
The veteran singer and former judge of American Idol has made a snide comment or two about the Kardashians as well. She stated that she and then-husband Nick Cannon aren’t “divorced after four months” because they are willing to be honest about the fact that they get angry with each other sometimes. Carey also stated that she’s a “real person” who isn’t about to fake it in front of cameras (we’re assuming this is a dig at the Kardashian’s reality show). Carey and Cannon have since called it quits on their marriage, but at least Mariah was honest about it and their union lasted for more than a few months.
5. Amber Rose
Amber Rose’s feud with the Kardashian family is a little complicated. Rose used to date Kanye West, who is now married to Kim Kardashian. Khloe, Kim’s sister, made a reference to Rose’s former job as a stripper during an interview. Amber didn’t appreciate this and referred to Khloe as a “hoe” and made some other unsavory remarks about the Kardashian family, including mentioning Kim’s sex tape with then-boyfriend Ray J. Kanye West then got involved in the feud by saying that he had to take a series of showers after dating Amber Rose in order to be fit for Kim Kardashian. How rude. However, Rose kept it (somewhat) classy by stating that she and Kanye were once in love and she wasn’t going to bash him. She still probably doesn’t care for the Kardashian girls too much, though.
4. Dave Grohl
Singer Dave Grohl is the founder of the popular alternative rock band Foo Fighters and was influential in introducing the Seattle grunge sound to the rest of the world. Grohl has been through his share of ups and downs in life and in the music business. For instance, when Kurt Cobain committed suicide, Grohl took it pretty hard and retreated from the industry for a bit. Dave Grohl played in Nirvana with Cobain, and after Kurt’s death, he went on to form the Foo Fighters. After all these serious issues, it’s surprising that this rocker has an opinion about the Kardashians. Grohl stated that he credits the famous family for helping him to stop smoking marijuana. Dave shared that when he’d get high, he’d be stuck watching Keeping Up With the Kardashians and that was enough to make him put the weed down.
3. Joel McHale
OK, so maybe McHale doesn’t exactly hate the Kardashians or maybe he does. What we do know is that the comedian and actor, who is best known for his work on The Soup and Community, always has a pretty shocking comment about the Kardashian family to share. Joel McHale often states that he knows the Kardashians are Republicans because they’re always trying to “screw Black people.” Whoa. Not only does he not care about offending Republicans, he also isn’t shy about discussing the presumed sexual habits of the Kardashians, particularly Kim and Khloe, and most recently, Kris, who started dating a Black man after divorcing Bruce Jenner.
2. Daniel Craig
The dashing actor is perhaps most famous these days for playing the role of James Bond in the movie Casino Royale. Daniel Craig also starred in Skyfall and Quantum of Solace. Craig, who is 47 years old, has been acting since he was a teenager. He waited tables when he was just getting started as an actor, which may have a lot to do with why he doesn’t care for the way the Kardashians have achieved their fame. Craig, who is married to fellow actor and beauty Rachel Weisz, stated that the entire Kardashian family were “f**king idiots.” He later stated that he wasn’t judging them, but we beg to differ.
1. President Barack Obama
That’s right, even the leader of the free world has an opinion about the Kardashians. It’s been reported that President Obama banned all Kardashian reality shows from being viewed at the White House. He also stated in a speech that Kim Kardashian and her husband Kanye West are prime examples of why a culture that is obsessed with celebrity is not healthy for children. If nothing else, this should go to show us that at the end of the day, President Obama is a father and he has the well-being of his girls, Sasha and Malia, to think about. There’s a pretty good chance the President doesn’t want his daughters emulating some of the behaviors the Kardashian girls are known for.
