We’ve no doubt seen some weird couples happen in Hollywood. There was that time Madonna and Dennis Rodman were a thing and everyone was like, what? And then there was that time when Ryan Reynolds was with Alanis Morissette for like four years before he realized he was hot enough to hook-up with Blake Lively. And there was pretty much any relationship tied to Michael Jackson.
All in all, we’ve seen some pretty weird love connections come out of Hollywood. But even worse than the couples we hate, are the couples we love that just haven’t actually become a couple yet or stayed one. We get it – the stars are people just like us and they want to share their lives with whomever they choose. You know, free will and yadda yadda. But don’t our opinions as the public who keep them rich and famous count for something?
Besides, celebs haven’t done such a great job of selecting mates for themselves, anyway. People are still choosing to date John Mayer even though no one else can figure out why. And more than one woman has actually married Charlie Sheen – with the hopes of having a normal marriage. Really? Given these disastrous choices, it may not be a bad idea to just heed some advice for a change. Here are 10 celebrity couples that need to happen right now to restore our faith in love, and of course, in humanity. No pressure!
10. Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams
It has come to our attention that The Notebook – the movie that has made all your relationships appear meaningless – came out 11 years ago. Feeling old yet? The starring couple fell in love and became a thing, which was kind of epic.
Sadly, Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams called it quits in 2007. But no one is over it – no one! Gosling recently had a baby with long-time girlfriend, Eva Mendes. And the Twittersphere was on fire with comments from fans wondering why McAdams wasn’t the mother of Gosling’s child!
What is this obsession we have with these two? Well, aside from the fact that most of us just want to see what their babies would look like – undoubtedly gorgeous! – we just can’t believe that on screen chemistry isn’t real. Come on guys. Renew the world’s faith in love and give it another shot. Ryan, ask yourself: What would Noah do?
9. Leonardo Di Caprio and Kate Winslet
Even those of us who hate romantic films kinda secretly loved Titanic. We may never fully understand why Rose couldn’t just scooch over and make some room on that damn raft, but even worse – we still don’t understand why these two didn’t get together in real life. Leo’s string of super model girlfriends may have had a little something to do with that, but how awesome would they be?
That on screen passion was pretty intense. They would make the perfect couple. And given that Leo is approaching the big 4-0, it’s time to settle down with his one true love! Ok, so Kate Winslet is married and has been married to three different men since 1998. But her current marriage only started in 2012 so… Our hearts will go on for you two, Leo and Kate. They. Will. Go. On!
8. Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore
These two have starred in a few films opposite one another: The Wedding Singer, 50 First Dates, and Blended. There’s no doubt they have good chemistry but what’s more, they seem to have an amazing off-screen relationship, too. They both assured the world on Chelsea Lately that they have never been romantically involved and have always just been great friends. But they definitely seem like they would be the cutest and probably the coolest couple in the universe.
They both have a great sense of humour and they just mesh so well. They would be that fun couple every one loves to hang out with. You know, the couple that makes you start a fight with your own significant other just because you’re annoyed you’re not as awesome together as they are? This needs to happen at some point. It just does.
7. Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston
When news of the separation hit, the world was shocked. The gorgeous power couple was the one Hollywood couple that made the world believe some celebs do have normal, lifelong marriages. Even now, a decade after the divorce, we’re not over it. We want to live in a world where Brad and Jen are back together and dreams really do come true. This is one couple that should give it another shot. You know, to make everyone else happy.
6. Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom
Obviously, you just can’t film a movie on a boat and not get together in real life without someone complaining about it! In 2003, Pirates of the Carribean hit the big screen with these two gorgeous people. It’s hard to believe Knightley was only 17 when the first film was made.
The two have never been an item (as far as the world knows, anyway) but they really should be. If not for love, then at least to procreate and pass on those gorgeous genes into what can only be described as the most perfect human baby on Earth. Do it for humanity, guys.
5. Alyson Hannigan and Jason Segel
You can’t be the most adorable couple on television for nine whole seasons unless you actually are awesome together! Do we sometimes want this hook-up to happen because we keep forgetting they’re not really Marshall and Lily? Maybe.
But the point is, they’re ridiculously funny on-screen and we want to see how that translates into real life. Given the high turnaround in the relationship department in Hollywood, what have they really got to lose by giving it a try? They already have our approval!
4. Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake
A lot has changed since Justin and Britney were an item. Thankfully, both of their wardrobes have since been upgraded and they both stopped wearing weird hats. While we are super happy with that change, we kinda sort of miss this super blonde, all-American couple.
The Prince and Princess of Pop? They could rule the world together! Besides, if you were willing to sacrifice your self-respect and wear matching denim outfits to an awards show for someone, then it’s true love. And true love never dies. Give it another shot guys – minus the denim, and under the supervision of a professional stylist only. We want you back together but not at the expense of your dignity.
3. Chilli and Usher
After dating for nearly six years, this hot R&B pair called it quits in 2004 after Usher cheated on the TLC singer. Why’d you do it, Usher? Why? She made it explicitly clear she didn’t want no scrubs wasting none of her time! Everybody knows the words – except, apparently, Usher.
His hit Confessions song was supposedly his apology to the singer, but apparently, she was in no mood for forgiveness – and who could blame her? But, the truth is, these two belong together. They’re both singers, they’re both not so tall – Usher is barely 5’7” – and they both know how to rock some statement earrings like it’s nobody’s business. What else do you need for a relationship to work? Give him a chance to do it right this time.
Usher. Chilli. Make it happen, people!
2. Taylor Lautner and Selena Gomez
Mostly, we just want to annoy Justin Bieber. But that’s obviously not the only reason we not-so-secretly want these two to become an item. Give us some credit, you guys. There’s also the fact that they could make babies with great hair. Incredibly, luscious hair. And some pretty perfect jawlines, too. They owe it to the world to at least try and make that happen.
Also, they’re two celebs who, at the moment, are actually under the radar. They seem like pretty well-adjusted, normal people. That’s a rarity in Hollywood. We just want some proof that sometimes, good people get together and make it work. And obviously, our faith in love and ultimately, mankind, rests in the hands of two twenty-somethings with perfect bone structure and fabulous hair. Don’t let us down, Taylena! Can we get this combination name trending on Twitter already?
1. Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence
Just do it, already! This is the right thing to do, guys! These two have starred in some pretty successful films together and there’s no denying they killed it in Silver Lining’s Playbook. Cooper has shot down the rumours of these two being anything more than co-stars and friends but we just don’t want to accept it.
How can two people have such fire between them on the big screen and not in real life? Can they really be that great at acting? Ok, well, probably, but we’re still not convinced! We can’t keep Kim and Kanye from being Kimye and we can’t make Bradley Cooper and JLaw an item. Life just isn’t fair.
