It’s natural that big name celebrities will be in the spotlight. With the media constantly keeping tabs on where they go, who they’re with and what they do, our perception of them is based on what we are shown. However, it is up to these celebrities to create a positive image of themselves. You only get so many chances until your actions speak louder than your words. Having a personal life is fine, but as a role model – which many celebrities are – unruly behavior and run-ins with the law will earn you a bad reputation with not only the fans but peers as well.
Eventually enough is enough and people are going to start speaking out. It’s not just us everyday people who get fed up with celebrity antics, other celebrities do as well. Taking into consideration all the social media out there, slinging mud has become easy and accessible to everyone, and serves as grade A entertainment to some.
Being one of the biggest and most controversial celebrities out there, Justin Bieber has had his fair share of criticism following him around. Whether it’s his actions, his demeanour or his music in question, plenty of celebrities have taken it upon themselves to speak out against him.
Here are the top 10 celebrities who’ve openly bashed the Biebs.
The New Zealand-born singer made it big with her hit single “Royals” in 2013. In October of the same year she took to bashing not only Bieber but fellow artists Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift as well. Stating “I feel like the influences that are there in the industry for people my age, like Justin Bieber or whatever, are just maybe not a very real depiction of what it’s like to be a young person” to MTV News. In defense of her original statement, Lorde went on to say “I think there’s a funny culture in music that’s only happened over the last 15 years, that if you have an opinion about something in music that isn’t 100-percent good, you’re a hater.”
9. Bill Hader
The former SNL performer and South Park producer had some issues with Bieber when he hosted the show back in 2013. On Howard Stern‘s Sirius XM radio show, Hader recalled Bieber and his entourage making it difficult for the long running sketch-comedy show’s cast to set up backstage, “Justin Bieber showed up with like 20 guys. He had a guy holding a slice of pizza, a guy holding a Diet Coke. You’re trying to fight through all these people to get dressed.”
8. Joel McHale
When asked why one of the most popular singers in the world would be throwing eggs, Community star Joel McHale kept his answer short and sweet, “Because he’s a f-king idiot”. McHale made his comments on TBS’s Conan saying “I feel like he’s got all those guys around him; he’s just running out of things to do.” McHale went on to mock Bieber’s egg throwing saying “I feel like he’s gotta do some toilet papering of a tree of some sort; leave the dog poop on fire. It’s weird how he’s going back to pranks from 1950.”
7. Billie Joe Armstrong
The Green Day front man went on a bit of a rant when the band’s set was cut from 45 minutes to 30 by iHeartRadio. The move was done in order to give Usher – who played for an extra 25 minutes – and Rihanna longer set times. With only one minute left on stage, the singer made his frustration known screaming “I’m not f-ckin Justin Bieber, you mother-ker! You’ve got to be fu-ing joking. I got one minute. One minute left. Now I got nothing left.”
6. Jon Bon Jovi
Bon Jovi front man Jon Bon Jovi had some choice words for Bieber after the singer was 2 hours late for a performance at London’s O2 Arena. Bieber’s absence forced many fans to leave the show, prompting many boos and Twitter rants. Bon Jovi was no different, calling the singer out in an interview with the London Evening Standard saying, “Do it once, you can be forgiven. Do it enough times and shame on you. They won’t have you back. Then it just becomes a cliché. It’s really not cool — you’re an a-hole. Go to f-kin’ work!”
5. Patrick Carney
The Black Keys drummer has had a long standing feud with Bieber going back to the 2013 Grammys. Carney was quoted as saying “Grammys are for music, not for the money, and he’s making a lot of money. He should be happy,” after Bieber failed to bring in an award. Bieber responded by taking to Twitter and telling his followers that the drummer should be “slapped”. This didn’t sit well with Carney who responded by saying “I’m saying that he should be grateful that he has a f-king career in music. And he shouldn’t be f-king telling his followers to slap me, and then also be doing anti-bullying bullsh-t. It’s so irresponsible.”
4. Marg Helgenberger
The star of the long running television program CSI, Marg Helgenberger wasn’t exactly glowing when asked about working with Bieber while on a French radio program back in 2011. Bieber who guest stared in the 15th episode of CSI’s 11tth season apparently made trouble for his colleagues on set.”He had never acted before. I shouldn’t be saying this, but he’s kind of a brat. He was actually very nice to me, but he locked one of the producers in the closet. And he put his fist through a cake that was on the table.”
3. Drake Bell
Drake & Josh star Drake Bell has taken bashing Justin Bieber to a whole new level, making it somewhat of a hobby. The actor’s main weapon of choice: Twitter. Bell has made a number of unflattering comments directed towards Bieber, saying “Justin Bieber is 5’6″ now I understand why you guys love him!! He’s the same height as all you 12 year olds! I totally get it now sorry guys” along with “Before I try to beat up the paparazzi I make sure my mascara is perfect!’ -Justin Bieber” The feud’s been going on since 2012 and shows no signs of stopping anytime soon.
Instead of just putting it out there, rap legend Eminem devised a more creative way of bashing the Canadian pop star – in a song. The song A Kiss performed alongside rapper Royce da 5’9″ on the duos album Hell: The Sequel makes mentions of Bieber being some sort of satanic spawn. “Him don’t give a damn about Bieber, do Him? / What a demon, a behemoth, evil just seems to be seeping through him”. Despite this, it was reported that Eminem had reached out to the troubled star in hopes of helping him deal with whatever it is he’s dealing with.
1. Seth Rogen
The feud between Bieber and Seth Rogen is one of the most intense out there. The two first met a few years back at a German talk show when someone approached Rogen asking if he wanted to meet the singer, and apparently the meeting left Rogen with a bad taste in his mouth. “What the f-ck, I don’t give a f-ck about, I don’t want to meet you. Don’t act all nonplussed to meet me. I didn’t want to meet you. I was totally cool not meeting you… But I was like, fine, I wouldn’t have said anything, I was like, he’s a bit of a motherf-cker.” Bieber retaliated on Twitter by saying, “Seth Rogan sorry I didn’t bow down when I asked 2 meet u was probably a bit shy and didn’t want to be over the top but still. love ur movies.” Cats out of the bag now, Seth Rogen really hates Justin Bieber. Recently on The Howard Stern Show Rogen said of Bieber, “He’s a good example of someone you meet, who you think you’re going to hate, and then you get to hate him as much as you thought. You meet him, and he lives up to every one of your expectations of how you hope he will be.”
