Some Hollywood actresses choose to never expose themselves on screen, using body doubles and special effects when their characters are meant to show some skin in-scene, rather than showing the world what’s really under their clothes. Some others in Hollywood, though, have no problem baring it all, easily getting naked for the camera and the character they portray. These 10 actresses took it all off -and more than once- for the movies they’ve starred in, showcasing that they’re more than comfortable with nudity on camera (and that they’re more than comfortable with their bodies, too).
Anne Hathaway has previously starred in films like The Devil Wears Prada, where she portrayed a young journalist working in New York City’s fashion magazine industry. But alongside her more tame roles, she’s bared it all and gone nude for four films: Brokeback Mountain, Havoc, Love & Other Drugs and Rachel Getting Married, though she insists her choice to do nude scenes is not to portray a more mature image. How about her comfort level while filming? Anne’s reported to have said she doesn’t get hung up on nudity.
You might know Marisa Tomei from her 1996 appearance in Seinfeld, or even earlier from her role in the 1992 film My Cousin Vinny, but the Brooklyn-born actress has appeared nude in five films throughout her career. Some of the films were, Factotum, Before the Devil Knows Your Dead and The Wrestler. The actress, who is now 49, had even done nude scenes well in her 40’s, stating that she’d starve herself a couple of days before filming to look her best. Smart? No, but she sure does look good.
Heather Graham has got naked for roles, six times in her career, some of them being for Boogie Nights and Killing Me Softly. She’s also showed some skin in The Hangover, proving that this 44 year-old actress is more than comfortable in her body, which doesn’t seem to be aging.
Julianne Moore’s known for her fearless acting, and that includes her willingness to take it all off, if the character calls for it. The actress, who has appeared in six nude scenes, told Wonderland magazine, “People ask all the time if sex scenes and nudity are hard. What’s hard? Not the lines or the physicality, but the emotion.” Her most famous scene was when she was shot naked from the waist down in Robert Altman’s Short Cuts. She told The Guardian on acting these intimate scenes, “No one enjoys them. It’s never comfortable. It’s something that you do with a great director, with another actor’s help, it’s a simulation. It’s not anything other than that.”
Spanish actress Penelope Cruz has no issue taking it all off for the camera. Even her first ever film, Jamón, Jamón, featured causal nudity on the part of Cruz; needless to say, it was hit in Spain thanks to her sheer talent and the film skyrocketed her career. She has since been nude in eight other films, such as the 2008 film Elegy and Twice Born, which hit theatres in 2012.
The world likely knows Kate Winslet best for her role alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in Titanic, for which the actress stripped down to her birthday suit in the memorable scene of Jack drawing Rose’s portrait. That scene, she says, still haunts her as fans often hand her a photo copy of the sketch for her to autograph. She told Yahoo Movies UK, “People ask me to sign that one a lot, and actually there’s a photo of it as well that someone’s lifted from a still of the film. That photo gets passed around. It’s like, ‘No, I didn’t mean for it to be a photograph that I would end up seeing 16, 17 years later.'” She’s clearly comfortable with it, though, as Winslet’s done nine other nude scenes in films such as The Reader, Little Children and Hideous Kinky.
Sex and the City‘s most infamous character, Samantha, was known for her love of all things provocative. It’s no wonder she was played by Kim Cattrall, who is more than comfortable showing the world her body. Not only has she appeared nude on the small screen several times during HBO’s Sex and the City (of which she’s said: “I tell people ‘You have seen Samantha nude, not me nude.'”), she’s also bared it all 10 other times. A much younger Cattrall took it all off in the 1982 film, Porky’s (think American Pie, but the 80’s version), but the 57 year old actress has got her clothes on for good now, vowing to never step foot in front of the camera nude after she turned 50.
The sultry Angelina Jolie has gone nude 12 times in her career for films like, Original Sin (in which it’s rumored her and co-star Antonio Banderas actually did the deed), Taking Lives, Wanted, The Good Shepherd, Foxfire and Gia, which portrayed the life and ultimate demise of a fashion model in the late 70s. We all know she’s provocative and risque, so it’s no surprise she’s bared it all so often. We just wonder how Brad feels.
Europeans are known for being more comfortable with nudity, so it’s no surprise Parisian-born actress, Marion Cotillard has been nude on screen 12 times. The big-screen star won an Academy Award for Best Actress thanks to her performance in La Vie En Rose, in which she was nude. She’s also gone bare for La Boite Noire, Pretty Things and Chloe, amongst others.
The gorgeous Monica Bellucci has been nude on screen over 16 times. The Italian-born model and actress feels comfortable taking it all off: “No, I’m not scared of nudity that’s for sure. I have nothing against it and maybe because I come from fashion and all models they have no problem with nudity and they’re perfectly comfortable with their own body. I did films like Malena or films like Irreversible, where I had nude scenes. It doesn’t bother me—nudity—on screen, if there’s a reason for that.”
