Founded in 2002 by the passionate NYC entrepreneur Marc Ecko, Complex Magazine can be considered as the media barometer for Hip-Hop, fashion and pop culture. If you want to know what’s hot on the streets in any of these lanes, all you have to do is pick up the latest issue of Complex and look through their glossy, well-designed pages.
Some of the biggest celebrities in the world have graced their covers, and many of the sexiest female stars have bared a lot of flesh for this magazine. These include the usual suspects, such as Kim Kardashian, Rihanna, Beyonce, Nicki Minaj and more. In the following article, we show you some of the hottest cover girls who have appeared on Complex Magazine. We have a feeling this is one article you are really going to enjoy.
12. Khloe Kardashian
Out of all the Kardashian and Jenner sisters, Khloe is far from being the most popular. She has mostly been in the news for her broken marriage to NBA baller Lamar Odom. She has also dated bad boy rapper French Montana and was recently romantically linked to the bearded Houston Rockets ace, James Harden.
The 31-yr-old reality star recently lost a lot of weight and she’s flaunting her hot body wherever she goes. She just appeared on the August/September cover of Complex Magazine looking extremely hot. On it, she’s wearing a revealing bikini on a gym bench with her derriere facing the camera. There are even more revealing shots on the inside of the magazine. We’re guessing that her social media following surged after this magazine’s release.
11. Paula Patton
There was a time a couple of years ago when Paula Patton and Robin Thicke were one of the hottest celeb couples around. Things have changed now. The hot couple has split up and Thicke has already moved on to a young, hot model as his rebound relationship.
Back in 2011, when things were better, Paula appeared on the cover of Complex magazine looking hotter than ever. She wore a bright orange 2-piece bikini set and her abs and curves were looking absolutely flawless. Paula was already well into her 30s at that time, but she was looking hotter than most 20-something Hollywood stars.
10. Nicki Minaj
Nicki Minaj is currently one of the hottest female rappers on the scene. And from the competition that’s surrounding her, it doesn’t seem that she’ll be losing her throne anytime soon. Minaj has appeared on the cover of Complex magazine twice; first in 2010 and then one more time in 2014.
The first cover was definitely the sexier of the two. It was a black and white image which featured her wearing fishnet stockings, a sexy dark lingerie set and fierce black heels. Her face portrayed a bold, nonchalant gaze and the accompanying wording on the cover read: Nicki Minaj is Not A Cartoon.
There is no doubt about it: the 28-yr-old Cassie Ventura is one of the sexiest female celebs on the urban scene. We know, she really doesn’t have that much talent to boast about, but what she lacks in singing talent, she more than makes up for in sheer hotness.
In 2008, she appeared on the August/September cover of Complex Magazine along with Hip-Hop stars Lupe Fiasco and Pharrell’s N.E.R.D. Cassie looked absolutely sizzling on her cover wearing an extremely hot one-piece bikini set. It’s no surprise that the 45-yr-old Sean “Diddy” Combs has clamped her down and made her his main squeeze. We have a feeling Puffy is not going to let her out of his sight anytime soon.
8. Keri Hilson
When Keri Hilson’s R&B career started heating up a couple of years ago, a lot of important people in the music industry were tipping her to be the next Beyoncé or Rihanna. The 32-yr-old hails from Decatur, GA and she’s had several hits with mega-stars like Kanye West, Ne-Yo, Lil Wayne and R. Kelly.
These days, her career isn’t as hot as it used to be, but in 2009, she was really riding high. She was featured that year on the cover of Complex Magazine and it was a catchy cover indeed. She was wearing a bright yellow bikini and hot black heels. Her angled pose also managed to put her chest in full focus. This issue was probably a huge hit with a large legion of young American males.
At the age of 28, Kesha is one of the surprising pop stars of recent years. She exploded on the scene with her hit single “Tik Tok” and most music listeners thought she was a one-hit wonder. The problem with her music is that her songs tend to be overly simplistic and without any texture or depth. But still, she has a huge legion of fans and on December of 2011, she was featured on the cover of Complex Magazine.
The other cover of that issue featured none other than Kanye West. The theme of Kesha’s cover shoot was a sexy SoCal roller skater chick wearing an acid wash jean jacket along with her knee high socks. We have to say, the art direction for this shoot was pretty cool.
6. Kim Kardashian
These days, Kim Kardashian is one of the most popular reality television celebs alive. She has her own TV show, her own clothing line, she’s married to Kanye West and she has been on the covers of tons of magazines including Vogue, Paper and more. But do you know that all this media onslaught started with her first ever cover for Complex Magazine in 2007?
Back then, she was just referred to as Paris Hilton’s BFF and she appeared on the cover in a sexy two-piece black bikini flaunting her sexy Armenian curves. Isn’t it funny to think that this was the probably the magazine cover that started it all?
5. Nicole Scherzinger
In 2006, Nicole Scherzinger was riding high as the lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls. The group had just sold 3 million copies of their latest album and Nicole was on the verge of exploding on the scene with her solo career.
Her success was rewarded with a cover on Complex Magazine, and it was truly a smoldering hot cover. She was wearing a sleek, patent leather tube dress and her hair was slicked down and styled perfectly. One of the other major features in that issue was Lindsay Lohan, but we’re pretty sure that she was a distant afterthought following Scherzinger’s super seductive photo shoot.
4. Rita Ora
In 2012, the August/September issue of Complex Magazine was a blockbuster affair indeed. One of the two covers featured all the members of Kanye West’s Good Music crew including John Legend, Pusha T, Common, 2 Chainz and more. The second cover featured the hot pop star Rita Ora from the UK.
These days, Ora is in the news a lot for her relationships with rappers like A$AP Rocky and Rich Hilfiger. She also made the headlines for her publicized breakup with DJ/Producer, Calvin Harris. On that Complex cover, she had a sporty athletic look. It was a two-piece skirt and tube top outfit matched with black high-top sneakers. It wasn’t as revealing as other Complex covers, but it was suggestive enough to not be boring and forgettable.
When you are able to go by just one name and still be one of the most popular people on Earth, you’re probably doing very well in life. The Bajan beauty Rihanna is one of the most famous people alive and she’s not shy about showing off her body at all.
In 2013, Rihanna gave all her fans some “full exposure” and appeared topless on the cover of Complex Magazine. Her torso tattoo was on full display and she was holding several polaroids of herself to obscure her chest. The accompanying copy on the cover was “Unapologetically Rihanna” and those words fit the image perfectly.
2. Zoe Saldana
She might be a little bit under the radar, but in the last couple of years, Zoe Saldana has really emerged as one of the most bankable stars in Hollywood. She has experienced a lot of success with the sci-fi movies she’s starred in. A few of the more memorable ones include Avatar, Star Trek and Guardians of the Galaxy.
In December of 2010, she was featured on the cover of Complex and she was dubbed the Queen of Sci Fi. The cover’s art direction really conveyed a Sci-Fi mood – she was decked in a metallic silver futuristic dress and the backdrop was made to look like an intergalactic dark cosmos. It was a little bit of a departure from the skin-revealing Complex covers, but Zoe still looked extremely hot and sexy.
In 2011, there was a lot on the line for Beyoncé. She was dropping her fourth album and she had taken a hiatus from the music scene for over a year. She had also just turned 30-years-old and there was a lot of pressure coming her way from a younger crop of R&B stars. But once again, she proved that she was the supreme and unmatched queen.
That year, she was featured on the cover of Complex Magazine and it was a truly spectacular event. The artistic direction was phenomenal and of course, B’s slamming body looked as flawless as ever. Her album ended up being a smash, and her single “Who Run The World” became an uplifting anthem for women all over the world.
