Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani is the Sheikh of Qatar and he has an estimated net worth of $2 billion. He has earned his net worth and position after he deposed his father through a coup in 1995. While serving his position, he is considered a progressive leader.
Before he became the Emir of Qatar, he served as the Minister of Defense between 1977 and 1995. From 1992, he was responsible in the day-to-day running of the country such as the development of its oil and natural gas resources. He led the Supreme Planning Council which sets the Qatar’s basic economic and social policies, in the early 1980's.
