Chilean businessman and former President of Chile, Sebastian Pinera has an estimated net worth of $2.8 billion. The founder of credit card giant Bancard has a Ph.D. in economics from Harvard. He is best known in Chile as a businessman, owning several businesses all over the country. Since becoming the president of Chile in January 2010, Pinera has been selling his stakes in several companies, including LAN, to avoid conflicts of interest. Pinera made his fortune before becoming president through his ownership of third oldest television station in Chile television channel Chilevision and LAN Airlines. Pinera's family moved to Belgium when he was just one year old, and later to New York City where his father worked as Chilean ambassador to the United Nations.
