Gold may be the 16th richest woman in Great Britain. She started working for Royal Doulton after school. She didn't want to get into management, so she asked her father to help her get professional experience. In 1972, her father acquired four stores of the Ann Summers chain. When she was nineteen, her father gave her work experience and paid her only £45 a week.

Jacqueline did not enjoy the atmosphere at Ann Summers even if it was the "upmarket clean" sex shop of David Gold because the place was full of men. Everything changed after she visited a Tupperware party in a flat in East London. Here, she saw an opportunity to sell sex toys and lingerie to women in the privacy of their homes. Jacqueline eventually launched the Ann Summers Party Plan which is a home marketing plan for sex toys. It became so popular that these parties are now a part of the British popular culture.

In 1987, Gold became the CEO of Ann Summers, and she transformed it into a multi-million-pound business. Nowadays, the sales force comprises more than 7,500 women organizers and 136 high street stores in Ireland UK and the Channel Islands.
