Willi and Isolde Liebherr have an estimated net worth of $2.8 billion as of January 2016, according to Forbes. They are the children of Hans Liebherr, one of the most revered industrialists in Germany’s post-World War II era. When he died in 1991 at the age 78, Willi and Isolde, took control of the management. He joined the business in 1971 upon earning his mechanical engineering degree from the Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich while his sister, Isolde, joined the business in 1976 after earning her management degree from the Business School of Mannheim (Germany).

Willi’s & Isolde’s children are also part of the company’s management. Jan, Willi’s son, shares management responsibility with his father on separate divisions with focus on earth-moving machinery and components while his sister, Sophie Albrecht, shares management responsibility with his father for the mobile cranes and mining.

Isolde's daughter, Stéfanie Wohlfarth, is part of her mother’s management duties in the appliances division while her sister, Patricia Ruef, presides over the maritime cranes division also with their mother. Patricia also shares responsibility with Willi for the machine tools and automation systems division.

As of 2013, Liebherr Group has revenues of $12.4 billion. It also owns six luxury hotels in Germany, Austria and Ireland. It employs more than 39,000 people in its 130 companies on each continent. Liebherr-International AG in Switzerland, its holding company, is fully owned by members of the Liebherr family.
