London-based Dutch computer tycoon Mol is the main sponsor of the Howard Staunton chess tournament held every summer in the capital. Mol sold his IT company Volmac to Cap Gemini in the early 1990s and has been investing the proceeds in a number of ventures run by his son, Michael, an Amsterdam internet entrepreneur.
