James "Jim" Jannard is an American designer, businessman, and founder of eyewear and apparel company Oakley, Inc. and RED Digital Cinema.

His RED Digital cameras shot the Oscar-winning film, "The Social Network." The digital cinema-quality cameras have also been used on the sets of directors Peter Jackson and Steven Soderbergh.

He sold motorcycle grips from a car trunk in 1975 later switched to sunglasses in 1983. The Oakley founder persuaded star athletes to wear his high-tech lenses; went public in 1995. James started Red Digital in 2006 and sold Oakley to Leonardo Del Vecchio's optics giant Luxottica for $2.1 billion in 2007.
