Born to a Greek-American family in Brooklyn, New York on January 8, 1957, Theodore John Leonsis is a 1977 graduate of Georgetown University. His professional career began at Wang Laboratories in Lowell, Massachusetts.

As a venture capital investor, he has made several investments on his own as well as a partner in the newly-created “speed-up capital” Revolution Growth Fund II.
