Chinese businessman Wang Chuanfu has an estimated net worth of $5.1 billion as of April 2016, according to Forbes. Known as the founder of BYD Company, Wang Chuanfu was considered as China's wealthiest man in 2009.

After completing his bachelor's degree in chemistry from the Central South Industrial University of Technology, Wang Chuanfu attended Beijing Non-Ferrous Research Institute where he earned his master's degree in 1990. He is married.

After spending a couple of years as a government researcher, Wang Chuanfu decided to take a different path by founding his own BYD Company. Today, the company is considered as the biggest manufacturer of mobile phone batteries in the world. BYD is also considered as one of the largest non-government controlled automakers in China. Ten percent of the company is owned by one of Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway units. Lu Xiangyang, the company's vice chairman also made it to Forbes' billionaire list this year.
