Walter Scott Jr. was born in Omaha, Nebraska in 1931. He completed his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 1953 from Colorado State University. In 1964, he was elected into the board of Peter Kiewit Sons' Incorporated. Fifteen years later, he became the president of the company.
