Russian businessman Vladimir Bogdanov has an estimated net worth of $1.91 billion as of April 2016, according to Forbes. Bogdanov is often referred to as the "Siberian hermit" because he often avoids public attention and rarely leaves the town of Surgut.

In 1983, he started serving as Director General of Surgutneftegaz. At age 33, he was appointed as the chief executive officer of the company. When the company went public in 1993, he began serving as President of Surgutneftegaz which is considered as one of the largest oil companies in Russia.
