Troels Holch Povlsen is a Danish businessman and founder of fashion chain, Bestseller, who has an estimated net worth of $5.36 billion as of March 2017, according to Bloomberg.

Povlsen began earning his own money when he sold carpets in the nearby city of Aarhus, Denmark. Then, he also sold clothes produced by his uncle's textile factory in Ringkobing. In 1974, he decided to buy his own shop and founded Bestseller with his wife in Brande, Denmark.

Bestseller focused on women's fashion. Children's clothing was introduced in 1986. Two years later, they launched men's clothes. Povlsen's company agreed to establish a joint venture in China, Tianjin-based Bestseller Group in 1996.

He was appointed a Knight of the Order of the Dannebrog in 2000. In 2001, Povlsen's son, Anders took control of the family shares from the company and became Bestseller's CEO. Eight years later, Povlsen retired as chairman, and his wife took over the said position.

Troels Holch Povlsen was born on September 9, 1949 in Risskov, Aarhus, Denmark. He has two son, Finn and Anders with his wife, Merete.
