Thomas Secunda is an American business executive and technologist based in New York who has an estimated net worth of $2.3 billion in May 2016 according to Forbes. According to Forbes.com, he is #1031 in the World Billionaires List (#1015 in 2012), #344 in the United States, and #47 in the Forbes 400 List. Born Thomas Secunda in Bethpage, New York, he earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Mathematics from Binghamton University. He began his career as a programmer while working as a fixed-income trader at Morgan Stanley as well as a systems researcher at Salomon Brothers. At Salomon, he worked along with Michael Bloomberg, the co-founder of Bloomberg L.P. and the mayor of New York City.

Secunda joined former Salomon Brothers colleagues Bloomberg, Duncan McMillan, and Charles Zegar to set up Innovative Market Systems in 1982. It was later renamed Bloomberg L.P. in 1987. He is currently the head of Financial Products and Service division. He is primarily responsible in helping the firm develop new features and tools for the Bloomberg professional service as its main product that resulted to 85% of its estimated $7 billion in revenue. He is also in-charge of the 6,000 global staff. He was appointed vice chairman in 2011 after Daniel L. Doctoroff was promoted to CEO. He also sits on the board of directors of the company and retains a 4% stake.

Along with his wife Cindy, Thomas Secunda is the head of the Secunda Family Foundation which focuses on the arts, education, health and Jewish causes. He is also an avid environmentalist who sits on the board of the National Parks Conservation Association, the Westchester County Parks, Recreation and Conservation Board and the Intrepid Museum Foundation.
