Norwegian businessman Stein Erik Hagen has an estimated net worth of $2.2 billion as of April 2016, according to Forbes. He is the second richest person in Norway and is listed 329th among the world's billionaires.

Mr. Hagen started accumulating his fortune when he began his professional career as an entrepreneur in the late 1970s. He founded the RIMI discount store chain together with his father. He retained the ownership until the 2000s, when he sold the company to Swedish ICA and Ahold, a giant international supermarket. He then invested in a variety of Scandinavian enterprises.

In 2007, Hagen took the department store chain Steen & Strom private then flipped it the next year for NOK 22 billion. He is the Chairman of the Board of Okla where he is a major shareholder. He also has large ownerships of Steen & Strom, Jernia and Komplett through his family company Canica.
