American businessman Phillip Ruffin has an estimated net worth of $2.6 billion as of April 2016 according to Forbes. Most of his net worth is derived from his casino, greyhound racing tracks, convenience stores, oil production and real estate businesses.

He is known to pioneer self-serve gasoline stations in 1972 in Kansas. Through the years, he was able to establish a chain of 60 convenience stores. From his revenues in convenience stores, he built his first hotel in 1987. He is known to have purchased New Frontier Hotel and Casino which he later sold to El Ad Properties in 2007.

In March 20, 2009, he got the complete ownership of the hotel and casino resort Treasure Island Hotel and Casino from MGM-Mirage. The property was worth $600 million in cash and secured notes amounting to $175 million. The Hotel Group division which he owns currently manages 13 hotels under the brands Fairfield Inn, Courtyard by Marriott  and Marriott Hotels operating in Texas, Alabama, California, Kansas and Oklahoma. Phillip Ruffin also operates and owns Angelus Manufacturing, which specializes in manufacturing steel hand trucks, and Harper Trucks which is considered as the largest manufacturer and producer of hand trucks in the world.
