Thon has an estimated net worth of $5 billion in 2015, according to Forbes. His company owns 18 properties abroad and over 360 properties in Norway which include office buildings, shopping malls, hotels and retail stores. His principal holdings include the Thongard AS and Stormgard AS. Also, he holds a major stake at the Olav Thon Eiendomsselskap ASA which is publicly traded.

Olav Thon is estimated to be worth $4.56 billion when his solicitor John Christian Elden announced that the billionaire has intentions of giving away his massive fortune. Elden further clarified that the billionaire's wealth will be placed in a trust which is named after him and will be spent for future generations.
