Mr. Ozdemir was born on April 5, 1950 in Diyarkbakir, Turkey. He received his mechanical engineering degree from Gazi University. He co-founded Limak Holding along with fellow billionaire Sezai Bacaksiz. It is a Turkish conglomerate with major business interests in construction, energy, cement, and tourism. Among its major assets are Limak Cement and Limak Energy companies, and the Limak Tourism Group.

The company’s total revenue with its wide range of businesses has grown by 24%. In 2012, it has an estimated $260 million revenue from construction alone. In June of the same year, it has won the tender of the Kosova Electricity Company’s electricity distribution and procurement business with fellow billionaire Ahmet Calik. In December, they bought BEDAS along with Cengiz and Kolin Construction for about $2 billion. BEDAS is the distributor of electricity to Istanbul’s European shore and it has 10 million subscribers.
