Mortimer Benjamin Zuckerman was born on June 4, 1937 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He is a graduate of McGill University where he took his BA and BCL degrees. He then studied at Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania where he took his Masters in Business Administration. He also attended Harvard Law School where he earned his LLM degree.
After graduation, he became an associate professor at Harvard Business School and Yale University. Later on, he started working for Cabot, Cabot & Forbes, where he initially served as the senior vice president and later became the chief financial officer.
After acquiring The Atlantic Monthly in 1980, he began serving as the company’s chairman until 1999. He sold the magazine for $12 million to David G. Bradley. In 1984, he also bought U.S. News & World Report where he currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief. Mort Zuckerman is also the publisher of the New York Daily News.
