Professional American football coach Mike McCarthy currently serves as the head coach of Green Bay Packers of the National Football League.
Michael John "Mike" McCarthy was born on November 10, 1963 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is currently married to Jessica Kress, with whom he has two children named Isabella and Gabrielle Kathleen.
In the past, McCarthy has served as coach or administrator for the football teams of University of Pittsburgh, Fort Hays State University, Kansas City Chiefs, New Orleans Saints, and San Francisco 49ers. His NFL career debuted with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he initially worked as offensive quality control assistant. After two years, he became a quarterback coach. He oversaw the performances of Elvis Grbac, Steve Bono and Rich Gannon.
In 2005, he became the offensive coordinator of the San Francisco 49ers. A year later, he was offered the head coach position for the Green Bay Packers. In 2007, he was named Motorola NFL Coach of the Year.
