A well known Canadian poker, space tourist and entrepreneur, Guy Laliberte is the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of the world-renowned Cirque du Soleil. In 2004, he was listed as one of 100 most influential people in the world by Time Magazine. On the same year, he was also given the highest distinction in Canada, the Order of Canada. It was in 1997 when he received the highest distinction awarded by the Quebec government, the  National Order of Quebec.  In 2007, he became a recipient of Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award for international, Canada and Quebec levels.

However, recent reports say that Circque du Soleil's revenue dropped by around 10% in 2012 when it only earned $900 million. With this economic condition, the company plans to streamline its operation by laying off 400 employees from its current 5000 workers.
