Spanish businessman Florentino Perez has an estimated net worth of $1.87 billion in May 2016 according to Forbes. A civil engineer and former politician, Perez currently serves as the president of both the ACS and the Real Madrid Football Club. He is best known to be the usherer of the Real Madrid FC to a period of Los Galácticos where elite footballers were given transfer fees which were considered extremely high.

Florentino Pérez Rodríguez was born on March 8, 1947 in Hortaleza, Madrid, Spain. He is an alumnus of the Technical University of Madrid. He was married to María Ángeles "Pitina" Sandoval Montero until her death in May 2012. He has three children named María Ángeles, Florentino, and Eduardo.

Perez's first attempt to Real Madrid FC presidency was during the 1995 presidential election. During campaigns he discussed the club's poor financial situation which came with the board's mismanagement. He lost to Ramón Mendoza, the incumbent president that time, by 700 points.

In 2000, he started serving as the club's president after beating Lorenzo Sanz, the then Chairman of the club. He still campaigned about the club's financial situation, while his opponent, Sanz, believed that the recent victory of the club  at the 2000 and 1998 European Cups would usher his win in the election. Perez won the election.

In May 2009, Perez started serving his second term as the club's president after emerging as the only candidate who have raised €57,389,000 guarantee which is necessary to become eligible for presidency.
