Drayton McLane, Jr. was born on July 22, 1936 in Cameron, Texas. After completing his undergraduate degree from Baylor University, he attended Michigan State University where he finished his MBA in Marketing. After graduation, he started working for his father. Previously, McLane has served as the chief executive of McLane Company, a supply and logistics, grocery and food service warehouse firm. In 1978, he became the Chief Executive and Chairman of McLane Company. In 1992, he started serving as the company's Chairman. He is claimed to be the one responsible for the massive expansion of the company from a three million dollar a year operation 19 billion dollar company. In fact, while he was the Chairman and CEO, he was able to add 16 distribution facilities and the company has incurred an average of 30% sales growth every year.
