American businessman David Howard Murdock has an estimated net worth of $2.9 billion as of April 2016, according to Forbes. In "Forbes 400" list, he was the 190th richest person and on the list of World Billionaires, he ranked 613th.

It was in 1985 when Murdock took over Castle & Cooke, a Hawaiian firm that was on the verge of bankruptcy during that time. The firm owns DOLE Food Company which specializes on producing pineapples and bananas. Through his leadership, DOLE Food Company became the largest producer of fruits and vegetables in the world.

After four marriages, David Murdock finally settled down with Tracy Murdock. He had three children, including Eugene, the son of his third wife from one of his previous marriages. His other son David Jr died due to an auto accident. David Murdock's only surviving son, Justin, currently sits as the Executive Chairman of the Board and CEO of Executive Chairman of the Board. He also serves as the Senior Vice President of Investments of DOLE Food Company and Castle & Cooke.
