Real estate tycoon David Azrieli has an estimated net worth of $3.1 billion as of March 2013 according to Forbes. This Canadian-Israeli businessman is also an architect, designer, developer and generous philanthropist. In March 2012, he was named by Forbes as the 401st wealthiest man in the world and 9th richest Canadian.

David Azrieli was born on May 10, 1922 in Maków Mazowiecki, Poland. He wasn't able to finish his degree in Architecture because he joined the Arab-Israeli War in 1948. Nonetheless, he was able to complete his Masters in Architecture from Carleton University at age 75.

After immigrating to Montreal, Azrieli started his real estate business by constructing and developing small duplexes. Eventually, he began constructing apartment buildings then shopping malls. Today, his business known as Canpro Investments has built several high-rise residences, shopping buildings, office buildings and office towers in Israel, US and Canada.

David Azrieli is also the owner of Tel-Aviv-based Canit Investment, Management and Finance Ltd. and Canpro Investments Ltd. which are considered as leaders in their sectors. Among his famous projects include three skycrapers in Tel Aviv, Israel's largest real estate project which is the Azrieli Center, Beersheba's Kanion ha-Negev, and the Jerusalem Shopping Mall.
