Industrial tycoon Chen Din Hwa has an estimated net worth of $2.6 billion as of March 2013 according to Forbes.

Chen Din Hwa born in 1923 in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, Mainland China. Coming from a poor family, he decided to dropout from school to work as an apprentice for a silk merchant. At 25, he already owned several factories and shops in Ningbo and Shanghai and he was serving as the chief manager of the family business. Eventually, he established the Nan Fung Mill which specializes on producing cotton yarn.

It was in 1954 when he established the Nan Fung Development Limited and Nan Fung Textiles which was later called as Nan Fung Textiles Consolidated Limited. He became the Chairman of Nan Fung Textiles Consolidated Limited.

In 2009, Chen Din Hwa was found to have Alzheimer's disease. Since then, he handed over all his control of the business to Vivien Chen, his youngest daughter who has been working for the company since 1981. This led to the resentment of his wife, who divorced him 2011, and his eldest daughter.

At age 89, Chen Din Hwa died of prostate cancer on June 17, 2012. Even after his death, he was still considered as one of the wealthiest persons in Hong Kong.
