Charles William Dunstone was born on November 21, 1964 in Saffron Walden. An alumnus of Uppingham School and University of Liverpool, this English businessman is currently married to Celia Gordon Shute.

It was in 1989 when Dunstone started selling mobile phones. After working as sales executive at NEC, he has earned a sufficient amount of funds to start his own business. Eventually, he founded The Carphone Warehouse (CPW) which specializes in producing mobile phones for the self employed, small businesses and the general public.

In 2000, the company was valued at $2.6 billion when it was allowed to float on the London Stock Exchange. In 2008, CPW collaborated with Best Buy which led to the creation of Best Buy Europe. The newly formed company's assets include the retail business of CPW which operate in more than 2400 stores located in nine countries in Europe such as Portugal, Belgium, France, UK, Germany, Ireland, Spain, Sweden and The Netherlands. Today, CPW is considered as the largest retailer of independent mobile communications in the world.
