Prior to becoming a television personality, he became an options trader in 1992 when he joined his brother at Mercury Trading, a market-making firm at the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE). Two years later, he was responsible for the firm’s risk and arbitrage which led to its entry in the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).
Between 2000 and 2004, Mr. Najarian served as the president of Mercury Trading who oversaw the company’s sale to Citadell LLC, one of the world’s largest hedge funds. He also led the company‘s joint venture with M.J. Meehan, the third-largest specialist firm on the NYSE.
