Best recognized as Hermes’ creative director from 2003 through 2010, Jean Paul Gaultier is a popular Pret-a-Porter  and haute couture  fashion designer with an estimated net worth of $100 million as of 2012.

Despite his formal training and education on fashion designing, he attracted the attention of Pierre Cardin who hired him as his assistant in 1970. Jean Paul Gaultier is known to introduce man skirts. He is the man behind Madonna’s sculptured costumes. In fact, he created Madonna’s cone bra which she wore on her 1990 Blond Ambition Tour. Gaultier also designed Madonna’s wardrobe on the artist’s 2006 Confessions Tour.

Aside from Madonna, Jean Paul Gaultier was also hired to design wardrobes for some stars in Motion pictures like Pedro Almodóvar, The Fifth Element, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover, and The City of Lost Children (La Cité des enfants perdus). Also, he designed Marilyn Manson’s costumes, as well as Kylie Minogue’s on the latter’s international KYLIEX2008 tour.
