Well known American art dealer Lawrence Gilbert "Larry" Gagosian has an estimated net worth of $300 million as of 2012. He is the owner of the Gagosian Gallery chain of art galleries.

Born to Armenian immigrant parents in Los Angeles, California, Larry Gagosian attended University of California Los Angeles where he studied English Literature. Gagosian is considered as the world's most powerful art dealer. Furthermore, a British Magazine in 2011 regarded him fourth on its annual list of "most powerful person in the art world".

His business actually started in selling posters near the campus of UCLA in the 1970's. Shortly, he began re-selling contemporary art pieces and from then on, his business grew substantially. In the next decade, he had earned a reputation in the world of selling art pieces. In the past, he has worked with Samuel Newhouse, Jr.  and Charles Saatchi, who are well known art collectors.

Noted for his excellent eye and for producing impressive art showings, Larry Gagosian has also made a reputation of telling false information as well as in drawing huge sums of profits even if it means copyright infringement or telling non-factual information about the death of certain artists.

Currently, Larry Gagosian owns art galleries in Geneva, Hong Kong, Paris, Athena, Rome, four in U.S. and two in London.
