At age 22, Keith Colburn moved to Alaska with nothing but a tent and $50. Eventually, he landed a job at Alaska Trader and shortly, he became more interested in the fishing lifestyle. Three years later, he became Wizard's full-share deckhand. In 1990, he was able to acquire his U.S. Coast Guard license and two years later, he obtained his masters (captain) license.

While operating Wizard, Colburn was able to acquire Sirene which was later purchased by the government run fleet reduction program. For more than 25 years, Keith and his wife, Florence, have been together in running and operating their business. Florence is actively involved in the business aspect of their boat's operation. Together, the couple raised their own children, Caelan and Sienna.
