About Carla Hall
Carla Hall is an American chef and television personality. Hall is known for her appearance on Top Chef’s fifth season. Before she became a chef, she spent several years working as a model in fashion hubs like Paris, Milan, and London. When Hall moved to Washington, D.C., she started a lunch delivery service, Lunch Bunch. With her passion for cooking, she enrolled in L’Academie de Cuisine in Gaithersburg, Maryland, and graduated with a Culinary Career Training certificate. She serve an internship at Henly Park Hotel in 1996, and was promoted to sous chef.
In 2001, she started her own catering company Alchemy Caterers in Silver Spring, Maryland and renamed it Alchemy by Carla Hall. She has also written the book Cooking with Love: Comfort Food that Hugs You.
In 2008, she was selected to be one of the contestants for Top Chef’s fifth season. She was known for the catchy phrase, “Hootie Hoo!”. Hall was also a member of the cast of Top Chef: All-Stars, the eighth season of the show, which consisted of participants from past seasons. In 2011, she was one of the co-hosts of The Chew, a one-hour live show on ABC centered on food from all angles.
