After signing to Jive Records, Syleena Johnson's first album was released. Titled Chapter 1: Love, Pain & Forgiveness, the album debuted at #1 on Billboard however, it never became a commercial success. In November 2002, her second album titled Chapter 2: The Voice, was released. It ranked 62nd on the list of best Soul Albums of the 2000's.

In 2005, Selena returned to the limelight with her third album titled Chapter 3: The Flesh.  The album's first single, "Hypnotic" featured Fabolous and R. Kelly. Under  'Aneelys Records', she released her fourth album, Chapter 4: Labor Pains,  in 2009. It debuted at #42 on Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Album Chart. Two years later, her fifth album, Chapter 5: Underrated, was released.
