Peter Tork is an American musician, composer, and actor with an estimated net worth of $4 million. He earned his wealth mostly by playing music with the band and also as a solo artist. He was born Peter Halsten Thorkelson on February 13, 1942 in Washington, D.C. While growing up, he showed an aptitude for music as he began playing the piano at the age of nine. He also learned to play different instruments, such as banjo, acoustic bass, and guitar.
Tork attended Windham High School in Willimantic, Connecticut and E. O. Smith High School in Storrs, Connecticut, where he graduated. Before moving to New York City to pursue a folk music career, he attended Carleton College, where he became friends with soon-to-be musicians like Stephen Stills. It was Stills who asked him to audition for a television show that was on the lookout for cute musicians. Peter Tork won the role, joined The Monkees. and became the most proficient musician in this band.
Tork played an instrument in the first two albums of The Monkees. Later on, he also wrote some songs for the band. Due to some tension in the band, he set off on a solo career in 1968. Since he was not very successful, became a teacher in California. During the 80s, he began touring with The Monkees once again. He also toured with his Blues band "Shoe Suede Blues".
