With an estimated net worth of $215 million, One Direction is recognized as the most popular boy band in music today, having taken the world by storm over the last three years. Made up of members Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson, the group was first formed on the reality show "The X Factor" in 2010 when the five singers failed to progress as solo contestants. Finishing third in the competition, the group was quickly signed up to Syco Record by Simon Cowell.
They quickly gained popularity throughout the world with the massively successful album "Up All Night" in 2011, spearheaded by the hit single "What Makes You Beautiful". The group quickly followed up on this success with their second album "Take Me Home" in 2012. With singles such as "Live While We're Young" and "Little Things", the band reached new heights of popularity with the album becoming the fifth most successful album of the Nielsen Soundscan era. The group are set to grow bigger and bigger, with an international stadium tour scheduled to take place in 2014.
