A producer and rapper, Melissa Arnette Elliot, better know as Missy Elliot, has a net worth of $50 million. She was born in Portsmouth, Virginia, on July 1st 1971. She began to show interest in performing from the tender age of 4 even though her commitment was disregarded by people around her.

Her determination saw her form Fayze, a performance group, with three of her friends. She went on to recruit a neighborhood friend to produce for the group and by late 1990 they were recording demo tracks. The following year, the group attracted the attention of producer DeVante Swing through its acapella performances. The group soon relocated to New York City, signing under Elektra Records and being renamed to “Sista”.

The ambitious Missy took the wraps off her solo career by featuring in the remix of “The Things That You Do” rapping for Sean "Puffy" Combs. While Combs tried to sign Elliot to his label, she went on to sign with EastWestRecords instead. In late 2005, Elliot got five nominations for the Grammy Awards but managed to win two for the "Best Short Form Video" and "Best Rap Song’" The following year saw her hit single “We Run This” get a nomination for “Best Solo Performance”.
