Johnny Gill was born on May 22, 1966 in Washington, D.C., U.S.A. At age 17, Gill’s recording career started and under Atlantic Records, his self-titled album was finally released. On the album, he played drums, bongos, bass and guitar. Along with Stacy Lattisaw, Gill’s duet album was released and it was titled Perfect Combination. Still under Atlantic Records, his second album titled Half Crazy was released.
In 1987, he joined New Edition. The group’s most notable singles were “N.E. Heartbreak”, “Boys To Men”, “If It Isn’t Love” and “Can You Stand The Rain”. After his short stint with New Edition, Johnny Gill pursued a solo career. Shortly, his second self titled album was released. The album included hits like “Wrap My Body Tight”, “My, My, My”, “Fairweather Friend” and “Rub You the Right Way”.
Three years later, his next album which include songs like “A Cute, Sweet, Love Addiction”, “I Know Where I Stand”, and “Quiet Time to Play” were out on the market. In 1996, he reunited with New Edition which led to the release of the album titled Home Again. It featured singles like “Still In Love” and “Hit Me Off”.
