James Durbin is an American singer and guitarist who has an estimated net worth of $1.5 million.
In the year 1989, Durbin was born to a bass player named Willy Durbin and a dentist's daughter named Judy Settle-Durbin. His father died of a heroin overdose when he was only nine years old. During his aired audition on American Idol, he announced that he was upset for not having the chance to know his father well. After the death of his father, he got diagnosed with Asperger syndrome and Tourette syndrome. He was able to attend the music school named Musicschool that Dale Ockermun manages in Santa Cruz. He was not able to attend high school in a traditional setting. According to him, he got his inspiration from the bands Thirty Seconds to Mars and My Chemical Romance.
Durbin became the lead singer of the band called Hollywood Scars and had the stage name of Jimmy Levox. The bands Mötley Crüe, Iron Maiden, Guns N' Roses, Judas Priest, Dream Theater, Metallica, and Pantera were the source of his inspiration. Their band, Hollywood Scars, also got inspired from the glam, glitz, and decadence of the Sunset Strip in Hollywood in the 1980s.
Durbin previously auditioned for the eighth season of American Idol but he was not chosen. He joined the tenth season of American Idol and got eliminated in the Top 4. Despite his elimination, he received a homecoming that was once reserved for the Top 3 contestants. This was the first time that this homecoming policy exception was made by the show. The footage of his homecoming, that got dubbed as the "Durbin Day," was briefly shown in the show's Top 3 performance.
He eventually appeared in the finale of American Idol's tenth season and sang "Breaking the Law" and Livin' After Midnight" with Judas Priest.
