Idina Menzel is an american actress (both in theater and in TV), singer and songwriter. Her estimated net worth is $10 million.
She is particularly well-known for her part in Stephen Schwartz's musical, "Wicked" and Jonathan Larson's "Rent", she was nominated for Tony awards for both plays and won one for "Wicked".
Born Idina Kim Mentzel on May 30, 1971, she changed her name due to the fact people had trouble pronouncing it. She grew up in Woodbury, Long Island and the moved sucessively to Queens and New Jersey while she was still young. From early on she was singled out as a talented singer and had a penchant for performing at weddings and parties.
Her professional singing career started when she was very young, her first part was in "Rent", which marked her as a rising star in Broadway. Following "Rent", she played parts in plays ranging from "Hair", to Elton John's musical, "Aida".
She was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for her Off-Broadway interpretation of Kate in "The Wild Party" and has also appeared several times in the popular TV show, "Glee".
