George Glenn Jones, born on 12th September, 1931, is an American singer and musician. He was born in Saratoga, Texas. He has a net worth of $35 Million. He is best known for his phrasing and distinctive voice, and the many hit records produced. Some people even claim that Jones is “The Greatest Living Country Singer”.

He started playing guitar at the age of 9. Jones left home at the age of 16 to pursue his music career. However, soon he joined the US Marine Corps and served there for a year. He concentrated on making it big in music again after this. His career spans more than half a century. George has been active since 1954. He performs now and then, even today.

Till 2012, George has given us 150 hit songs. Some of them are White Lightning, She Thinks I Still Care, The Grand Tour, The Door, Yesterday’s Wine, and I Always Get Lucky with You, among many others. in these long years, Jones has worked with many successful musicians like Dan Schafer, Johnny Paycheck and Kent Goodson.

George was once a cocaine addict and an alcoholic too. He earned a bad reputation for missing many performances – this gave him the nick name, “No Show Jones”, which has stuck to him till today. However his bad habits did not come in the way of winning many awards. He received the “Most Promising New Country Vocalist” in 1956. He received the “Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award” too. Jones was also included in the “Country Music Hall of Fame”, and was also named a “Kennedy Centre Honoree” in 2008.

Jones has married four times. His current wife is Nancy Sepulvado. They live in Franklin, Tennessee.
