Shelley Long is an actress from the US having net worth of $16 million. Her performance Diane Chambers in “Cheers” has been widely appreciated. She has received two Best Actress Golden Globe awards, and also the Emmy award for this.

She was born on August 23rd 1949 in Indiana. Her mom was a teacher, and dad Leland Long used to work in rubber industry until he too became a teacher. Shelley was a member of the speech team in the high school speech team, and represented them in competitions. In 1967, she even won an award in this. Her speech was titled, "Sex Perversion Weed". It was on why it was necessary to impart sex education in school. She went on to learn drama later at the Northwestern University. She however left to go into acting and modeling.

Shelley's first chance to work as the actress came when she started working in commercials in Chicago for Homemakers, a company making furniture. In recent times, Shelley performed recurrently in “Modern Family” as DeDe Pritchett. This is an ABC comedy.

Shelley's first marriage ended in divorce. In 1979, she met her second husband Bruce Tyson, a security broker. They married in 1981 and had a daughter, Juliana. Another attempt at pregnancy resulted in a miscarriage in 1989. Shelley also has a stepson. Shelley and Bruce separated in 2003 and divorced in 2004.
